CTW FOUNDATION buck - WrangerDefining a Successful Whitetail Breeding Program

NEW! View video of trophy whitetail breeding doe

At Circle T Wildlife, we have focused our breeding program on producing deer that have the best opportunity to coexist with and improve deer herds that currently exist on Texas ranches. As a result, we have and will continue to breed deer that have primarily South Texas genetics that are best suited for surviving the harsh environment that Texas ranches frequently experience.  Refraining from line breeding and resisting the temptation to introduce northern genetics are two key components to producing deer that have the best opportunity to thrive when released on Texas ranches.  Pure South Texas Does or those that have primarily South Texas genetics, should look like these.

Keeping accurate records is a must.  DNA verification and registration, although not required to produce high scoring deer, is utilized on all Brood bucks and Females in our breeding program.  To stay focused on cross breeding various South Texas Bloodlines exhibiting excellent width, beam length, and frame, we hand select each Doe for each Brood buck based on the registered pedigrees and past performance of the Does and/or  their Mothers and Grandmothers performance. Circle T Wildlife's TX 1524 Atascosa Facility 545 has a current CWD Herd Status of Level B2 and Circle T Wildlife's Live Oak Facility 667 has a CWD Herd Status of Level A.

Circle T Wildlife will consider trading HIGH QUALITY south Texas blood line registered females with another whitetail Breeder provided that Other Breeder also:
1) participates in the Texas Animal Health Commission CWD program and has level A or greater status

2) Has registered pedigrees for those females

3) The females that the breeder wants to trade are tame.

4) Those females have a history of producing above average main framed deer.

  • 802 is a gentle deer with good demeanor
  • Our Bucks have access to weeds, grass, mesquite, granjeno, persimmons, guyacon, and brazil, so their rumen systems have already been adapted.
  • 802 and all brothers are fast growers

Testimonials

Terry,

I would like start off by saying thank you for all of your help with our ranch.  I feel that I have made a friend in the deer business, and will continue to recommend Circle T Wildlife to everyone I know.  When I first started this adventure I talked to several other breeders in South Texas, most of the guys were passionate about deer breeding but it was easy to see that the main idea was to sell me some deer for as much money as possible. When I spoke to you almost 2 years ago your first question was “ what’s your long term goal for your ranch?” that question sparked a long term friendship, since then I have purchased five very nice breeder bucks and six breed does from your facility. You would not believe the impact that these deer have made on our ranch. Every time I sit in the blind and watch the deer as they feed and move around I think what a blessing it has been to be involved in such an adventure. I’m so excited to see the new fawn crop this year, and I can’t wait for the weekends as I watch these huge bucks growing there new horns. To anyone who is considering the addition of new deer to their ranch I would highly recommend Circle T Wildlife. Terry and his family truly care about each deer they sell. I will be sending some pictures for the next few months to show the progress that our deer are making. I hope that everyone has as much fun and fulfillment that I have experienced with raising deer.

Thank You
Jeremy Mccutchen

I have been purchasing bucks from Circle T Wildlife for the past 8 years.  My native bucks have gone from a trophy 8 point with an 18 inch spread to a trophy 11 point with a 22 inch spread.   The most important thing to me is that I am purchasing quality south Texas genetics from people like Circle T Wildlife that understand and are committed to a breeding program that will assist Texas landowners in improving their properties by introducing deer that have the best opportunity to survive in the harsh elements of native Texas pasture.   If you have a ranch you want to improve the quality of deer on, I highly recommend that you consider contacting Circle T Wildlife to discuss your needs and to hear not necessarily what you want to hear but what they know as fact and what you need to hear as a landowner and deer manager to get the best bang for your buck.
