Defining
a Successful Whitetail Breeding Program
NEW! View video of trophy whitetail breeding doe
At Circle T Wildlife,
we have focused our breeding program on producing deer that have the
best opportunity to coexist with and improve deer herds that currently
exist on Texas ranches. As a result, we have and will continue to
breed deer that have primarily South Texas genetics that are best
suited for surviving the harsh environment that Texas ranches frequently
experience. Refraining from line breeding and resisting the temptation
to introduce northern genetics are two key components to producing
deer that have the best opportunity to thrive when released on Texas
ranches. Pure South Texas Does or those that have primarily South
Texas genetics, should look like these.
Keeping accurate records
is a must. DNA verification and registration, although not required
to produce high scoring deer, is utilized on all Brood bucks and Females
in our breeding program. To stay focused on cross breeding various
South Texas Bloodlines exhibiting excellent width, beam length, and
frame, we hand select each Doe for each Brood buck based on the registered
pedigrees and past performance of the Does and/or their Mothers and
Grandmothers performance. Circle
T Wildlife's TX 1524 Atascosa Facility 545 has a current CWD Herd
Status of Level B2 and Circle T Wildlife's Live Oak Facility 667 has
a CWD Herd Status of Level A.
Circle T Wildlife will consider
trading HIGH QUALITY south Texas blood line registered females with
another whitetail Breeder provided that Other Breeder also:
1) participates in the Texas
Animal Health Commission CWD program and has level A or greater
status
2) Has registered pedigrees
for those females
3) The females that the breeder wants
to trade are tame.
4)
Those females have a history of producing above average main framed deer.

American Whitetail Registry at Oklahoma City is 45976 while
